What is an MRI scan?
An MRI scan is a very advanced medical imaging technique. An MRI scan uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to create pictures on a computer of tissues, organs and structures inside your body.
MRI is routinely used by doctors to obtain diagnostic information of the various parts of the human body. This is done by scanning the body using magnetic fields, radio waves and computers to generate multiple views of the body parts without actually invading or causing damage.
Is it safe?
Provided there are no contra-indications, there are no known reasons why the examination is unsafe as there are no potentially harmful rays to worry about, such as those produced by X-Rays. In fact, it is an extremely safe investigation.

What an excellent service you most certainly provide. On arrival I was greeted in a lovely manner, and everything was explained to us very well on what was going to happen to me. The lady who did my MRI could see I was nervous, explained to me exactly what was going to happen, spoke to me when I was having my MRI. Excellent service. Very professional. Both the ladies put me at my ease, the last MRI I had at WRH was horrendous. This lady made sure I was okay from start to finish. Excellent care. I would certainly recommend this service.
